On Three Kings’ Day, together with Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, who attended in the morning, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo broke the traditional thread together with girls and boys, children of some of the reporters who attended the press conference.
With a smile, he answered the questions of some of them. Ivana, one of the girls who went to the National Palace, asked the president: “Why did you take away the sweets?”, in reference to the ban on the sale of junk food in schools.
–Ah! I already knew that question was coming! Look, too much sweets do a lot of harm –explained the President.
–They are good.
–They are delicious, but they do a lot of damage if you eat too many of them. When you are little it seems not, but as you grow you can get diabetes, hypertension and many diseases. They can eat sweets supervised by their parents at home; but at school, healthy food – added the president.
Another of the little ones asked him for a message for the children upon his return after the December holidays.
“Yesterday we told them that they are going to have a scholarship for school supplies and uniforms, for their mothers and fathers and for them. That is a Three Kings’ Day gift. And also, all the best for the girls and boys of Mexico. All the best. May they be happy, may they have a lot of affection, a lot of love, may they not eat a lot of sweets, may they get into mischief, but little. And that we love them very, very, very much,” he responded.
Heading towards the FIFA Cup that will be organized in Mexico, the United States and Canada, he also announced: “Now we are going to make many soccer fields for the World Cup.”
After a surprise was announced for the children, at the close of the conference the traditional son jarocho group Kumaltik and the Three Wise Men performed.
