Abinader reiterates support for democracy in Venezuela

Abinader reitera respaldo a la democracia en Venezuela

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader stated this Saturday that the Dominican Government maintains a follow-up permanent to the evolution of the events in Venezuela and reiterated that the Dominican Republic never recognized the legitimacy of the proclamation of Nicolás Maduro after the elections held in July 2024.

Through the social network Declaration of Santo Domingo in August of that same yearan initiative that demanded respect for will expressed at the polls for the Venezuelan people.

The head of state stressed that the solidarity between the Dominican and Venezuelan peoples is historic and reaffirmed the country’s willingness to collaborate with efforts aimed at restoration of democracy, peace and national harmony in Venezuelan territory.

President Abinader emphasized that the Dominican Republic will maintain a firm stance in defense of democratic valuesfor which he assured that the country will always be on the side of democracy, in any scenario and circumstance.

“The Dominican Republic will always be on the side of democracy, wherever, whenever and before whomever”stated the president.

«The Dominican Government is closely monitoring the evolution of events in Venezuela. Our country never recognized the legitimacy of Nicolás Maduro’s proclamation as president after the July 2024 elections. In line with this, we promoted the Santo Domingo Declaration of August of the same year, which demanded respect for the will expressed at the polls. The solidarity between the Dominican and Venezuelan peoples is historic. Today we reiterate our willingness to collaborate with the reestablishment of democracy, peace and national harmony in Venezuela. The Dominican Republic will always be on the side of democracy.
