In this sense, he made an urgent call to cease any act of aggression against the Venezuelan people.
“Based on its foreign policy principles and its pacifist vocation, Mexico makes an urgent call to respect international law, as well as the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and to cease any act of aggression against the Venezuelan government and people,” it said in the statement.
The Government of Mexico stressed that the legitimate and effective ways to resolve differences between countries must be dialogue and negotiation. Therefore, it reaffirmed its willingness to support any effort at dialogue, mediation or accompaniment to preserve regional peace and avoid further confrontation.
“Latin America and the Caribbean is a zone of peace, built on the basis of mutual respect, the peaceful resolution of disputes and the prohibition of the use and threat of force. Any military action puts regional stability at serious risk,” he highlighted.
The UN was also urged to act immediately to facilitate dialogue and generate the necessary conditions for a peaceful and sustainable solution, in accordance with the principles of international law.
President Sheinbaum also reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Mexican Embassy in Venezuela, will maintain constant communication with Mexican citizens residing in that country, calling on them to be attentive to the information that is generated in the coming hours and to contact the available emergency telephone numbers and channels.
