SANTO DOMINGO.-The Elías Piña Criminal Chamber sentenced two men to 20 years in prison for aggravated robbery and physical assault to the detriment of a citizen, in an event that occurred on November 1, 2024 in the Comendador municipality.
The sentence was issued against Edwin Gruyon Amador (Cueko) and Endri Amador (Ningui), who illegally entered the property of merchant Juan Rosendo Lorenzo, who was attacked and stripped of more than 600 thousand pesos.
To commit the acts, the defendants broke the awning of the property and, using a goat’s leg, They removed an iron protector that covered a glass window, thus gaining entry to the house.
Once inside of the building, in the hallway of the residence, they hit Rosendo Lorenzo on the left knee and later They stole a package containing the approximate sum of six hundred fifty thousand three hundred fifty-three pesos (RD$650,353), money that he carried as a result of his commercial activities.
The case was litigated by the prosecutor Luisa de la Rosa and the prosecutor Sócrates David Ogando, who demonstrated before the court the solidity of the investigation process, and highlighted that this sentence constitutes an exemplary sentence. Both criminals were convicted of violating the provisions of articles 265, 266, 309, 379, 381, 382, 384, 385 and 386 of the Dominican Penal Code. By order of the Collegiate Court, which is made up of judges Eduardo Gerónimo Sánchez, Blaudy Luciano and Sauly González, the defendants Gruyon Amador and Endri Amador, will serve the sentence at the Elías Piña Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
