The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, permanently allowed former president Jair Bolsonaro to receive prison visits from the Federal Police Superintendence (PF)in Brasília, of his children who live in Brazil: Flávio, Carlos, Jair Renan and Laura. His stepdaughter Letícia Firmo will also be able to visit him.
Jair Bolsonaro is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months, in an initial closed regime, for coordinating the plot of an attempted coup d’état, in the PF Superintendency.
“In this way, having complied with the legal determinations, I authorize the permanent visitation of Carlos Nantes Bolsonaro, Flávio Nantes Bolsonaro, Jair Renan Valle Bolsonaro and [da filha menor idade]children of the sentenced person and his stepdaughter Leticia Marianna Firmo da Silva, regardless of new authorization, within the times established under the terms of Ordinance SR/PF/DF nº 1104, of March 28, 2024”, says the decision.
Minister Moraes highlighted that the permanent visitation authorization, given in December, to former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro remains valid.
His son Eduardo Bolsonaro, who has lived in the United States since March 2025, is left out of the decision. In December, Eduardo lost his mandate as federal deputy for not attending the deliberative sessions of the Federal Chamber.
Date and time
According to the magistrate, visits will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 am to 11 am, lasting 30 minutes, with a limit of two family members per day. Each family member must visit the prisoner separately.
Hospital discharge
Permanent visitation authorizations for his four children and stepdaughter were granted one day after the former president was discharged from DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, to undergo exams and surgical procedures.
This Thursday (1st), minister Alexandre de Moraes denied the former president’s defense request for a change to house arrest.
