Said Prosecutor’s Office investigates and prosecutes the facts that the law indicates as crimes of the federal order provided for in special laws that do not fall under the responsibility of another Administrative Unit.
Resolves jurisdictional disputes between the various Specialized Prosecutor’s Offices of the FGR, and attends to relevant matters entrusted to it by the Attorney General.
In January 2024, Ulises Lara López became the office manager of the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, replacing Ernestina Godoy.
Before leaving the position of capital prosecutor, Ernestina Godoy appointed Ulises Lara, who served as general coordinator of advisors and spokesperson for the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, as the new head of the General Investigation Coordination, a position that, in accordance with article 46 of the Organic Law of the institution, had to assume ownership of the organization.
Ernestina became the head of the Attorney General’s Office at the end of 2025, after the unexpected departure of Alejandro Gertz Manero.
Who is Ulises Lara?
Ulises Lara López has a degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the UNAM, a degree he obtained in 1997.
In 2000 he completed a master’s degree in Municipal Administration and Management at the Carlos III University of Spain and four years later another master’s degree in Government and Public Affairs from UNAM.
According to her resume, Lara López has held different positions in the public administration in Mexico City:
From 2001 to 2004 he was an advisor in the government secretariat of the then Federal District when José Agustín Ortiz Pinchetti and Alejandro Encinas were government secretaries of the cabinet of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
From 2004 to 2006 he was general director of the government of the Federal District.
From 2006 to 2014 he held different positions in agencies such as the Housing Institute of the Federal District. In addition, he was an official of the Tláhuac delegation.
In the administration of former head of government Miguel Ángel Mancera (2015-2016) he was director of the Institute of Higher Secondary Education (IEMS).
In 2018 he was an advisor to the Morenoist mayor Patricia Ortíz in Magdalena Contreras and in 2019 he joined Ernestina Godoy’s team as general director of strategies and one of those responsible for the transition from the Attorney General’s Office to the Prosecutor’s Office of Mexico City.
In 2022, he registered as a Morena advisor in the capital.
After his period in the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, he worked in the state of Morelos.
Opposition politicians have criticized him for his closeness to the ruling party.
