2026 is a key year. We are starting a critical year and we are going to explain why. 2025 has just concluded, a period that will be judged in history as one in which tremendously harmful actions were carried out for the country’s institutional path. Because of a despicable government, things were done such as the extinction of autonomous constitutional bodies, the destruction of the judiciary, the harm to the amparo trial, and even transparency in the legal water regime. The sum of the actions of this regime will be framed as the disastrous history of a regime without any restraint. The way in which they seized power (through illegitimate overrepresentation) and used these instruments to implement multiple destructive and regressive constitutional reforms.
Morena’s way of acting is based on the possibility of acting with absolute impunity and being based on a lack of capacity for self-criticism. It is this set that explains how a populist government can carry out so many actions that have a route of overwhelming everything that hinders them to concentrate power and not let anyone try to think or act differently. And one would think that there would be reasons why even in these extremes they would make a stop along the way to not continue doing so many harmful things, but since they live in another world and enjoy the possibility of not suffering legal consequences, then they shamelessly double the bet and advance their agenda of unlimited authoritarianism.
One reason that has allowed them to advance their totalitarian agenda is that the government carries out chronic simulations. Since they could not say publicly that their agenda is to devastate the country, what they do is that with vile propaganda they dedicate themselves to deceiving the population with a series of arguments that include effective communication because they do disguise the nation’s disaster in urban legends supported only by direct transfers of money with an electoral mission and no real impact on the quality of life or social mobility.
But reality cannot continue to be hidden, and it is already evident that what this regime came to do is steal, lie and betray. And never in the history of the country have we seen corruption schemes such as the fiscal huachicol, which means having created an ecosystem to steal more than 600,000 million pesos from the national coffers (80 times what the Master Scam meant). Thus we saw multiple other cases in which, based on direct allocations, a series of friends and close associates of the regime benefited, including notably the children of López Obrador, in order to create a new breed of people who have become multi-millionaires based on a systematic looting of the national treasury. In fact, they have been vile rustlers who betrayed everything they said to be parasites without any regard and with the vocation of amassing fortunes as quickly and as large as possible. Insatiable greed.
In this process they even implemented the militarization of multiple civilian tasks. That design involved the assignment of tasks, the use of public resources, and the distraction of its constitutional functions. The result is that in addition to causing enormous pockets of opacity, the armed forces have become denatured because instead of being fully dedicated to issues of national security and natural disasters, they are now torn apart in so many functions that control has already been lost. The worst thing is that they are already recognized as those who participate in large corruption schemes such as the fiscal huachicol. A serious wound that does not resolve.
Complicity with organized crime has generated a scheme of great impact and concern for the country. The partnership that Morena has with the country’s big bosses has meant that in fact the reference to us being a narco-state is not an exaggeration, but rather a specific description of what has been done with the entire country. The problem is that the levels of extortion, property rights, merchandise theft, human trafficking, etc. They suffocate the nation and turn the business community and citizens into permanent victims of the yoke of those who already know they are unpunished and capable of doing evil with the complicity of the authorities at the 3 levels of government.
Morena has gotten its way up to this point by handing out cash in social programs that in fact have meant that they have proposed eliminating public education, health and security services, and leaving the citizen with some resources to buy in the private sector as they can. In fact, it implies that the state has abdicated from providing services that correspond to it and that the citizen accepts receiving money to get by as best he can. The scheme is perverse and ephemeral in validity. The limits are already being reached. And part of it is that the state is going into debt to continue sponsoring these payments because it knows that its very existence depends on it. But they have already doubled the public debt in 7 years and the ability to pay the debt service is putting pressure on public finances. Ultimately, the government is mortgaging the future of the country because these debt obligations are on issues in which there are no returns. It is as if someone goes into credit card debt for issues where there are no sources of income. The result is that the debt grows, but the ability to pay does not. And for the future it implies that the state cannot invest because it owes a lot. A terrible strategy however you look at it.
Faced with the obvious problem that is approaching them and that will undoubtedly result in them paying for their misdeeds in the elections and being punished at the polls (as already happened in the most recent elections in Durango and Veracruz), now following the manual of authoritarian populism from Morena they are launching with the threat of carrying out an electoral reform. Against everything that implies that progressive reforms are triggered by the opposition, and that many of the great citizen achievements continue to be destroyed, the creation of a Presidential Commission was proposed to establish electoral reform. Without disguising the underlying authoritarianism, a group of unconditional people are named who only want to close the valves of transparency, competitiveness and peaceful alternation. This reform may in fact be the last way of forcibly implementing the imposition of a state regime to inhibit free competition between different political forces. The clearest evidence of a political group that seeks to supplant electoral freedom through imposition and a single-party regime. The intention is to modify the will of the voters for that of the regime.
This shows us that there is no longer any doubt about the type of government that has been taking shape in the last 7 years. Masks out. A crowd of thieves, impostors, simulators and systematic destroyers. One would like there to be in-depth reflections and exchange of ideas. You’d think someone would have common sense. But there is no capacity for amendment and correction in the face of so many errors. And the design is to take us to these extremes. Concentrate power at any cost. Thus the impudence and desolation. They only accept submission and salami.
On top of the atrocious way in which they have been acting in these 7 years, and particularly in the last year in which they made constitutional modifications, what stands out is that the execution of the tasks to reconfigure Mexico into a democratic simulation and rather a tyrannical authoritarian design. In this context, this group of those who claim to be promoters of a new regime are simply authoritarian populists. Incapable of stopping the process of national destruction, the only thing they do to say that they reflect on the passage of their footprint is to look for those who overlap and applaud their actions. It is something similar to the queen who in the fairy tale turned to a mirror that seemed ideal because it always spoke of her beauty and the need to consider other options or alternatives. Self-flattery of your perverse intentions.
And this is where the background reflection comes. They can’t see themselves in a real mirror, but we can. Here there is no room for the assumption that the course of the country has already been set and that there is nothing to do. Quite the contrary, what we require is to realize that the sum of millions of daily wills can and will have a brutal effect in finding the new course that prevents Morena and her group from consolidating a step into the abyss of total democratic destruction. Let’s start the year with the firm conviction of our individual and collective responsibility. It is up to us to set an example of consistency and perseverance. Let’s look in the mirror every morning and confirm what we have to do each day. With this permanent and collective reflection we will be able to hit the nail on the head and see how we do change the path of a nation that does aspire to great changes to distance itself from what did not work in the past, but not reproduce or allow the simulation regime that is presented to us today with enormous lies and eternal deceptions. It is possible and we will achieve it, and nothing and no one can convince us otherwise.
