The Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat investigates the possible violation of personal databases of various public institutions, after the dissemination of information in this regard and as a result of the permanent monitoring it carries out on possible security incidents.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the agency reported that it opened various ex officio investigation procedures to analyze the origin of the incident, identify possible failures in security measures and, where appropriate, determine the corresponding administrative infractions and determine responsibilities.
He specified that although in spaces of the deep web (deep network) it is presumed that the obtaining of the information derived from a hacking, The investigations will not be limited to that hypothesis, but other scenarios will also be evaluated, such as the improper use of access credentials or the eventual internal leak, with the purpose of fully clarifying the facts.
According to the agency, the investigations are ongoing and are being carried out with strict adherence to the principles of secrecy and confidentiality required by the procedure.
He explained that the institutions involved, whose names were not specified, must attend to the investigations initiated and, where appropriate, present the corresponding criminal complaints to the competent authorities.
He added that the procedures may lead to observations and technical recommendations aimed at correcting vulnerabilities and strengthening security measures, including access controls and supervision of public servers with access to personal systems and databases.
In the event that administrative responsibilities are established, the agency will report to the corresponding Internal Control Body and, if conduct that could constitute crimes is detected, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic will be notified. The secretariat reiterated its commitment to the protection of personal data.
