Indomet: Rains and weather alerts persist in several provinces

INDOMET: Lluvias podrían mantenerse hasta primeras horas de la noche

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported this Friday afternoon that, although the front system affecting the country gradually weakens as it moves towards the east/southeast, the trough associated with this continues to impact the national territory, generating conditions of atmospheric instability.

According to the report, quite a bit of cloudiness is observed in much of the country, causing moderate to heavy showers sometimes accompanied by possible thunderstorms and isolated gusts of wind.

These rainfalls are recorded in provinces such as Barahona, Pedernales, Independencia, Baoruco, Azua, Peravia, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Samaná, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Hermanas Mirabal, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Puerto Plata, Monte Cristi, Espaillat and Greater Santo Domingo.

Indomet indicated that during the night, as the frontal system moves over the Atlantic, north of the Dominican territory, the rains will continue to affect several locations, concentrating mainly in towns in the northeast and southeast of the country.

For tomorrow, Friday, the meteorological organization predicts that the humidity associated with the trough will continue to generate favorable conditions for the occurrence of rain, although these will decrease in intensity and frequency.
