A police officer was murdered in the early hours of January 1, the event shocks the beginning of 2026.
The National Police confirmed that one of his uniformed men was murdered in the early hours of Thursday, January 1, 2026 in Villavicencio, Metawhile attending the community call for one fight that was registered.
The fatal victim was identified as Deputy Mayor Jeferson Orlando Fernández Orduzwho was assigned to CAI Barzal de Villavicencio and who was there on duty at this beginning of the year.

According to the report of the Villavicencio Metropolitan Policethe events were recorded on the 3:25 a.m.in it San José neighborhoodwhen the uniformed officers arrived after receiving a community call in which they requested the police support.
“While two uniformed officers assigned to the service area of the San José neighborhood were attending to a fight, they were attacked with a firearm by a subject, where Deputy Mayor Jeferson Orlando Fernández Orduz was injured”the authorities said in a statement.
The deputy mayor was transferred from emergency to the Departmental Hospital of Villavicencio to receive immediate medical attentionbut due to the severity of injuriesdied in the early morning.
About the person responsible for murder of uniformed manthe authorities detailed that it was a man who had a criminal record.
“During the procedure and in the midst of the police reaction, a subject known in the sector as alias Polo, presumed responsible for the attack and death of the uniformed man, was injured.”which was transferred to a care center for their medical care, the institution added.

Furthermore, it was known that it was another criminal captured known as alias Richardwho would be the brother of the perpetratorand who had in his possession the firearm with which, apparently, they committed this crime.

Through this statement, the National Police rejected the murder of the uniformed man and pointed out that “deeply regrets the departure of Deputy Mayor Jeferson”categorically rejecting this type of acts of violence and stands in solidarity with the family of this hero of the country who gave his life to protect the lives of others.
To these voices of rejection was added that of director of the institution, General William Rincónwho sent a condolence message to the family and colleagues of the murdered uniformed man.
“Today we do not talk about figures or results. It is with deep sadness that I report that irrational violence took the life of our Deputy Mayor Jeferson Orlando Fernández Orduz in Villavicencio”said General Rincón.
“Criminals took his life. He was a son, a family member, a friend, a partner. A police officer who went out to serve and did not return home”he added.
He police director assured that there will be no impunity and demanded justice in this case, the first of 2026.
“Let no one forget that behind the uniform there are lives, dreams and families that suffer today”Rincón said.
“To his family, all our respect, support and solidarity. Their pain is also ours”he concluded.
