Santo Domingo.- “At Christmas every day is a day of life.””said a lady while I danced merengue, foam glass in hand, in a Santo Domingo Malecon that dawned different with a gray sky, wet and soaked, but full of people decided to say goodbye to 2025 without looking at the sky.
The rain didn’t stop the party. Hundreds of citizens arrived to welcome the New Year in front of the sea and enjoying a party that brought together performers of different musical genres. After eight in the morning, they were still dancing under the downpour.
Between garbage, capes, improvised umbrellas and even chairs used as sheltercouples hugged, others laughed, and some simply let themselves get wet.
The presence of National Police agents was noticeable: not only were they there among the crowd, but they had to wake up on the Malecón not to enjoy the party, but to monitor and maintain order in the middle of the celebration.

There were adults, young people and even families with minors who, between laughter and dance steps, turned the rainy morning into an unforgettable anecdote.
“The best thing I have ever experienced in my life”said one of the assistants to the team.e The Day. “And the rain?” he was asked. “The rain was the best”he responded without hesitation.
Manuel Valentín de los Santos, arriving from San Luis, also decided to wake up on the Malecón.
“Magnificent, perfect… we are still waiting to sleep here,” he commented smiling, soaked but satisfied.
Among the crowd appeared even a late Santa Claus, while from the stage the announcement that sealed the night could be heard: “Nobody move, the closing is with Omega.” And no one moved.
