During the immigration interdiction operations carried out by the Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) in 2025, 180,145 undocumented Haitians were detained in various provinces of the country, in actions that included border patrols and surveillance posts.
The undocumented foreigners were captured at military checkpoints and patrol work, and then handed over to the General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) and subjected to the due repatriation process.
In the same period, the ERD presented to the Public Ministry 885 people detained for trafficking of foreigners in an irregular immigration situation and smuggling of illicit goods, reinforcing the fight against transnational crime networks.

Likewise, the authorities seized 17,344,351 units of cigarettes illegally introduced into the country, mainly Capital and Jalsaimer brands, seized by soldiers at different posts, detachments and checkpoints in the border area.
During these Operations seized 2,790 vehicles used for the illegal transportation of people and merchandise, including trucks, buses, jeeps, sedan carsvans, minibuses, boats and motorcycles. In addition, surveillance drones, ground patrols, mobile checkpoints and night operations were used to thwart evasion attempts.
The General Commander of the Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, recognized the work of military personnel deployed throughout the country and reaffirmed the determination to continue strengthening border security in coordination with other state institutions.
The results of these operations reflect the commitment of the Army of the Dominican Republic to the defense of the national sovereigntyhe strengthening border security and the firm fight against merchandise smuggling and irregular migration, always respecting laws and human rights.
