Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil thanked his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi for his words of solidarity with our country in the face of the new imperial attack by the United States, which imposed new sanctions on the sale of weapons between the two countries this week.
“The esteemed Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi is not wrong when he affirms that the Venezuelan people will defend their sovereignty and supreme interests against the illegal measures imposed by the United States,” Gil said in a post on Telegram.
He added his gratitude on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people for “the support of the Iranian government and people and their iron determination in the defense of international legality and the right of peoples to development and full development free of abuses, unilateral coercive measures and threats that undermine international law and the human rights of the peoples of the world.”
The day before, the Iranian foreign minister held a meeting via telematics with his country’s ambassador to Venezuela, Ali Chegueni, and the diplomatic corps accredited in Venezuela, in which they discussed issues surrounding the Venezuela-Iran relationship and the imposition of United States sanctions.
The Ambassador of Iran expressed his “recognition of the work and commitment” of the diplomatic officials who are accredited in Venezuela.
“During his speech, the Chancellor ratified Iran’s unwavering stance in defense of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela,” the diplomatic headquarters detailed in its X publication.
They also wrote that the official expresses “his full conviction that the Venezuelan people, by maintaining unity and national cohesion, will preserve their independence and their supreme interests in the face of the illegal measures imposed by the United States.”
