At least 30 hitmen participated in the murder of a businessman in Zapopan

The car in which the victims were transported was a high-end sports vehicle without armor and guarded by at least seven bodyguards – some of them retired military personnel – who tried to repel the aggression.

Authorities found four of the vehicles used by the attackers during the attack.

“Of these cars, three had license plates from the state of Michoacán and one did not have vehicle plates,” reported the Government of Jalisco.

“Due to the characteristics of the attack, the participation of organized crime is preliminarily presumed; it will be as the investigations progress when the motive for the attack is determined,” he added.

The businessman, his daughter and a bodyguard died during the armed attack in Zapopan, Jalisco.

According to authorities, around noon on Monday, armed people opened fire on the vehicle in which the businessman and his minor daughter were traveling.

The businessman’s security responded to the attack, but could not contain it. Four more escorts were injured and taken to a hospital.

Elements of the municipal and state police, in addition to the Mexican Army, cordoned off the area and began the respective investigations.

Authorities used helicopters to begin the search for those responsible, however, so far no one has been arrested for the crime.

Zapopa, Jalisco, will be one of the venues for next year’s Soccer World Cup.
