In the month of November, the state of São Paulo recorded a drop in the number of intentional (intentional) homicides, robberies (robberies followed by death) and rapes compared to the same month last year. The data was released this afternoon (30) by the Public Security Secretariat.
The number of intentional homicides went from 214 cases last year to 186 incidents in November this year, a drop of 13%. Robberies rose from 16 to 11 cases.
According to the secretariat, in the year to date, between January and November, 2,194 intentional homicides and 120 robberies were recorded, the lowest level in the last 25 years for the period.
Rapes totaled 1,157 incidents in November, seven fewer incidents than in 2024. Between January and November, the indicator decreased by 128 cases, from 13,483 cases in 2024 to 13,355 records this year.
“Combating crimes of such high gravity is a permanent agenda of the Civil Police, which has improved action mechanisms, whether by welcoming victims by specialized teams, with continuous attention to the training of police officers, or by offering humanized environments at police stations, in order to welcome and preserve the victim”, said, in a note, delegate Cristiane Braga, coordinator of the Women’s Defense Stations (DDMs).
As for feminicides, which is the homicide of a woman committed based on gender, 26 cases were registered throughout the state of São Paulo during the month of November. In the capital of São Paulo alone, there were five cases.
This morning, the Civil Police launched Operation New Year, New Life to arrest women attackers. During the action, 233 people across the state were involved in crimes of domestic and family violence against women.
“This operation has great value and results because, when we remove from circulation a person convicted of a crime against honor, insult, slander or criminal acts, we are removing from circulation a possible perpetrator of a more serious crime”, said the delegate.
Robbery and theft
Robberies also fell across the state during the month of November, from 14,737 incidents last year to 11,386 this year, a variation of 22.95%. Thefts fell 5.1%, from 46,304 cases to 43,911.
