FANB assures that it monitors energy complexes in the midst of tension with the United States

The Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) reported that it maintains reinforced surveillance in two key infrastructures of the Venezuelan energy system: the Ana María Campos Petrochemical Complex, in the state of Zulia, and the Paraguaná Refining Center, located in Falcón.

The deployment was confirmed this Tuesday through audiovisual material released by the strategic operational commander of the FANB, Domingo Hernandez Larez. In the video, the head of the Western Comprehensive Defense Strategic Region, Pedro González Ovalles, detailed that a Quick Reaction Unit (URRA) remains active in both facilities with the objective of “guaranteeing the comprehensive security” of these complexes.

The military authorities highlighted the strategic importance of the Paraguaná Refining Center, considered by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, as “one of the largest in the world, responsible for transforming crude oil into gasoline, diesel, asphalt and other derivatives.”

As for the Ana María Campos Petrochemical Complex, it houses various plants dedicated to the production of fertilizers, plastics and other industrial inputs. Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) underlines its role within the production chain by pointing out its relevance for the “use of natural gas as a basic source of inputs.”

The US intensifies sanctions and attacks against Venezuela

The FANB announcement comes as the United States increases pressure on Venezuela. During this month, US authorities They seized two vessels with Venezuelan crude oiland President Donald Trump ordered a total blockade of sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving the South American country.

Added to these measures were statements by Trump, who on Friday assured that his government carried out a attack on a “large facility” located on a dock, as part of the US campaign against drug trafficking that, according to Washington, has its origin in Venezuela. The president did not specify whether the operation took place within Venezuelan territory.

The diary The New York Times It was later reported that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had carried out a drone attack against a port facility in Venezuela last week. So far, the Venezuelan government has not issued an official statement on this version.

These actions coincide with the air-naval deployment that the United States has maintained since August in the Caribbean Sea, which Washington presents as part of its fight against drug trafficking. However, the Venezuelan Executive maintains that this is a maneuver to promote political change and impose “puppet governments” that facilitate US access to national energy resources.
