According to the Law 100 of 1993contributions to the system of social security are maintained:

On the one hand, in health: 12.5% ​​of the total salary, of which the worker assumes the 4% and the employer 8.5%. With the new minimum wage, the worker’s contribution is approximately equivalent to $70,036 monthly.

Meanwhile, the pension: 16% of salary, with 4% borne by the worker, which also represents about $70,036 per month.

In total, those who earn the minimum wage in 2026 will see an approximate discount of $140,072 monthly for these two concepts. Other deductions can be added to this, depending on the type of contract, fund or particular working conditions.

What is the reason for the increase in the 2026 minimum wage?

The increase in the minimum wage was presented as a relief against the cost of living, inflation and the loss of purchasing power in recent years. However, he also made it clear that a part of the increase was automatically allocated to greater contributions to healthand pension.
