At least 15 tourists were injured, one of them seriously, after a head-on collision of two passenger trains on the route to Machu Picchu, in southeastern Peru, the police reported this Tuesday.
The accident occurred on December 30 at around 1:20 p.m. (local time) on the single-track railway route that connects to the town of Ollantaytambo with Machupicchu, in the Andean region of Cusco.
A train from the PeruRail company collided head-on with another from the Inca Rail company for reasons that are still unknown.
