Candidacy in suspense. The strike against the party’s presidential formula Popular Renewal In view of the 2026 General Elections, it was admitted for processing by the Special Electoral Jury of Lima Centro 1, as reported by the entity itself in a statement.
This strikes against the formula led by the former mayor Rafael Lopez Aliagawas presented by citizen Estevens Adriano Sánchez Puertas and was initially declared inadmissible due to non-payment of the electoral fee, something that was corrected this Monday.
For this reason, the JEE now admitted this objection against López Aliaga’s formula.
This maintains that there is an alleged violation of the rules of internal democracy within Renovación Popular, which, according to Sánchez Puertas, would not have been elected in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Political Organizations (Law No. 28094).
“The basis for this accusation lies in a serious violation of the norms of internal democracy,” states the document, which questions the procedure followed by the party to form its presidential formula.
The defect has been transferred to the legal representative of the political party in question, Fernando Sandoval Ruiz, so that he can present his defenses within a maximum period of 1 calendar day.
This JEE resolution was signed by its president, Hugo Andrés León Manco, members Edmundo Pedro Calderón Cruz and Ana Vanessa Ruiz Quispes.
