The Public Ministry obtained a conviction of 30 years in prison against Gilyo Viloria, found guilty of the crime of aggravated drug trafficking in the form of transportation.
The information was confirmed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, who highlighted the forcefulness of the judicial decision.
The procedure was carried out in the state of Zulia, where officials detected that Viloria was trying to transport 42 panela-type wrappers of alleged cocaine, with a total weight of 46,899 kilograms. The drug was hidden inside a tire, in an attempt to evade security controls by state agencies.
After the presentation of the evidence by the Prosecutor’s Office, the competent court issued the maximum penalty established in Venezuelan legislation for this type of crime. The sentence responds to the seriousness of the event and the risk that the trafficking of illicit substances represents for society.
The attorney general stressed that this sentence is part of the zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking promoted by the Public Ministry. He assured that the result reaffirms the institutional commitment to combat mafias dedicated to drug trafficking and guarantee justice in each case.
This seizure, which exceeds 46 kilos of cocaine, represents a significant blow against criminal networks that try to use the national territory as a transport route for illicit substances. The judicial action reflects the firm position of the Venezuelan State against drug trafficking and the defense of citizen security.
The authorities have reinforced security operations on roads and checkpoints with the aim of stopping illicit activities linked to drug trafficking.
These deployments seek to detect and neutralize attempts to transport drug shipments through the national territory.
