Former president Jair Bolsonaro underwent new surgery this Monday (29), in Brasília, to try to contain bouts of hiccups. The intervention was completed shortly before 3 pm, the former president’s wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, said in a post on social media.
“Procedure completed. Thank God, now we are waiting for him to go up to his room,” he wrote.
She is the only companion of Jair Bolsonaro authorized to sleep with the former president in the room. The expectation now is for the release of a new medical bulletin or press conference by the health team monitoring Bolsonaro’s treatment.
According to DF Star Hospital, the surgery aimed to block the left phrenic nerve — responsible for controlling the diaphragm — to complement the treatment started last Saturday (27), when he underwent the same procedure on the right side. Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to the unit since December 24th. He underwent inguinal hernia surgery on Christmas Day.. So far, the forecast for discharge, according to doctors, is December 31st.
The former president was authorized by minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to leave the Federal Police Superintendence, in Brasília, where he is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for his conviction in the coup plot.
