Santo Domingo. — The National District Prosecutor’s Office requested this Monday preventive detention as a measure of coercion against the Army major, Diego Geraldo Mesa Arismendyaccused of causing the death of the young woman by shooting her in the head Perla Jokasta Santos19 years old, in a confusing event that occurred in the Los Guandules sector of the National District in the early hours of December 25.
The authorities classify the event as voluntary homicide by preliminarily attributing direct responsibility for the young woman’s death.
However, the detainee’s family came to his defense, arguing that their relative acted in public defense, because supposedly the young people with whom the victim was hanging out were trying to rob the soldier.
