President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced this Monday financial support for families affected by the derailment of the Interoceanic Train.
The amount that the victims will receive is 30,000 pesos immediately, the president told the media during her visit to Oaxaca.
“First support will be given to all families, so that they do not have to incur expenses; they are being given funeral support and everything that is required to support the families,” said Sheinbaum.
”We will be in contact with them as soon as the Prosecutor’s Office can determine the cause as soon as possible; “There are 30 thousand pesos that will be given to each person, but it is nothing more so that they do not have to make expenses in one or two days,” he added.
Sheinbaum traveled today to hospitals in Oaxaca to visit people who were injured in the derailment of the Interoceanic Train.
Some of the victims are at the ISSSTE Hospital in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, where Sheinbaum arrived on Monday afternoon.
Promises deep investigation
During her morning conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum assured that she will act responsibly to clarify the derailment of the Interoceanic Train of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in which 13 people died.
“As always, we are going to act very seriously and responsibly in this case as in other cases,” commented the federal president.
He mentioned that in the face of this accident his government has three priorities: attention to victims and families, which is why the heads of the Navy, Raymundo Pedro Morales, and the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, moved to Oaxaca.
The second point – he said – is to clarify “rigorously” what happened this Sunday with the Interoceanic Train, for which the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is already carrying out expert reports and investigations in order to report on the causes of the accident.
And the third is to guarantee that the Interoceanic Train is in condition to operate again, so the Secretary of the Navy and the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency must review the route of this transport.
Likewise, the president defended the construction of this Train, stating that it was carried out with all the technical requirements, which is why it has safety certificates.
