The Ministry of Health announced this Monday (29) the completion of the training of 109 thousand Community Health Agents (ACS) and Endemic Disease Combat Agents (ACE) linked to the 2nd class of the Mais Saúde com Agente program. Professionals already work in 5,200 municipalities in all 27 federative units in the country.
“The initiative promotes strengthening the performance of professionals in Primary Care and Health Surveillance, in addition to offering more humanized care and closer to communities. Mais Saúde com Agente is the largest technical training program in the health area in the country”, highlighted the ministry, in a note.
In total, the qualification covered 81,000 Community Health Agents, who are those responsible for primary care for families in their communities, and another 28,000 Endemic Disease Combat Agents, who work in the prevention and control of diseases such as dengue, zika and chikungunya, visiting homes and land to identify and eliminate mosquito outbreaks. Aedes aegypti.
The Ministry of Health detailed that more than 12 thousand professionals participated in the process, such as tutors, preceptors and local and regional assistants. Mais Saúde com Agente had a blended format and a workload of more than 1,200 hours lasting ten months, according to the ministry. In this second group of the program, the courses included new subjects related to equity and combating inequalities, focusing on improving the reception of the population.
Mais Saúde com Agente is an action of the Ministry of Health, carried out by the Department of Work Management and Health Education of the department, in partnership with the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the Escola Politécnica de Saúde Joaquim Venâncio and the SUS Health Schools.
