The Ministry of Health published a concierge which allocates R$1 billion to 3,498 philanthropic hospitals and holy houses in all regions of the country. In a note, the ministry informed that the resource is part of the sector’s new financing model, which guarantees annual readjustment of amounts paid for procedures carried out via the Unified Health System (SUS), calculated based on hospital production recorded in the previous year.
According to the statement, the new financing model guarantees annual adjustments with values that vary from two to three times more when compared to the old SUS table for combinations of consultations, exams and surgeries. The transfer will be made in a single installment, directly to state and municipal health funds, expected to be implemented from January onwards.
The ministry also informed that, of the total amount of the transfer, R$800 million will be allocated to the cost of procedures and R$200 million will be used to increase the states’ Medium and High Complexity Ceiling. “The calculation of the value to be transferred considers hospital production from the previous year and adopts an estimated percentage of around 4.4%, higher than that applied in 2024, which was approximately 3.5%”.
“The investment reinforces the strategy of Agora Tem Especialistas, a program that reorganizes the financing of specialized care in the SUS and creates national incentives. By financially strengthening philanthropic hospitals, the government expands the program’s capacity to generate concrete results, with more care, greater predictability for providers and reducing regional inequalities in access to specialized healthcare”, concluded the ministry.
