The primate archbishop of Mexico, Carlos Aguiar Retes, yesterday led the closing mass of the jubilee year in which he did not issue any political message, but stressed the importance of reconciliation with others, hope and forgiveness. In the Metropolitan Cathedral, after a ceremony that lasted almost two hours in a crowded temple, they closed the main door, called “Door of Forgiveness”, to conclude a year dedicated to prayers, silence, gratitude and hope. The cardinal reported that in Rome, in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo XIV will perform this ceremony on January 6 on Epiphany, while all dioceses in the world had to close yesterday.
