The temperature in the city of São Paulo, this Sunday (28), reached 37.2ºC, establishing a new heat record for the month of December since measurements began in 1943.
This number was recorded by the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) at Mirante de Santana, at 4pm. The previous mark was last Friday (26), which was 36.1ºC.
The rest of the state of São Paulo also suffered from a lot of heat this Sunday. The city of Pedro de Toleto had a temperature of 42.1ºC. Miracatu had 41.6ºC, Registro had 39.8ºC.
São Paulo and much of the southeast region have faced a heat wave in recent days. A mass of hot air has parked throughout this area, which also covers parts of Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and prevents the arrival of cold fronts.
