The tender for the passport issuance service for the period 2026-2030 was declared void by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). The agency determined that none of the participants complied with all the requirements established in the call and, given the upcoming conclusion of the current contract, assured that the total continuity of the service is guaranteed, both in national territory and in the consular representations of Mexico abroad.

According to an information note from the Foreign Ministry, the ruling corresponding to the international public tender LA-05-613-005000999-T-2-2026 was carried out on Friday at the SRE facilities, in accordance with the provisions of the Public Sector Acquisitions, Leases and Services Law and its regulations. The objective of the procedure was to contract comprehensive support services for the issuance of the electronic Mexican passport, a document whose annual demand exceeds 5 million copies.

The SRE reported that the bidding process will begin again soon and reiterated that the public passport issuance service will continue to operate normally through offices in the country and consulates abroad, despite the contractual change planned for 2026.
