Mexico occupies second place in the world with the lowest unemployment rate, only behind Japan, which, with 2.6 percent unemployment, is in first place in this area, just one tenth of a percentage above our country, which has 2.7 percent; This was announced on her social networks by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, where she included a comparative table with several developed countries.
The country exceeds the employment levels of Germany, which has an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent, and the United States, which reports 4.6. Sheinbaum’s comparison includes other nations with higher unemployment than Mexico: Holland, 4 percent; Australia, 4.3; Italy, 6 percent; Belgium, 6.4; France, 7.7; Sweden, 9.1; Finland, 10.3, and Spain, 10.5 percent, among others.
Just two weeks ago, the Mexican Social Security Institute reported that, according to data up to last November, the country reached a new formal employment record with 22 million 837 thousand 768 jobs affiliated with that agency, “the highest figure in the history of the institute since records have been recorded.”
According to the IMSS report, until November 2025, 599 thousand jobs were created, which represents a growth rate of 2.7 percent; He also indicated that of the total employees affiliated with Social Security, 40.4 percent are women, that is, 9 million 229 thousand.
