The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, reaffirmed that “the people of Cuba and Venezuela are the most solid basis for the reunification of all of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
During the decoration to the Cuba-Venezuela International Brigade with the Order of Merit Builders of the Homeland “Antonio José de Sucre”, the head of State stated that both nations have the task of demonstrating that the future of our hemisphere cannot be war, military threat, colonialism or slavery.
He stressed that between Cuba and Venezuela there is “a foolproof brotherhood,” since they have managed to overcome all adversity so that victory always prevails.
In addition, he highlighted that the Cuban nation is the “world champion of solidarity”, because for more than 60 years it has gone to Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean to demonstrate that mutual support is the future of humanity.
“We are also a people who are forging ourselves in the spirit of solidarity. So it is very significant that our boys have gone,” said President Maduro.
In this context, it is important to remember that the ties of brotherhood and strategic cooperation between Cuba and Venezuela were forged by the historical friendship between commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro. Both leaders shared a vision of political resistance that today is seen as a model of Latin American unity and social justice.
