THE rector of the Cristo Redentor Sanctuary, Father Omar, will perform a show this Saturday night (27) in one of Rio de Janeiro’s postcards, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitassouth zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
THE presentation is scheduled for 7pm. Father Omar will sing Brazilian music classics and songs from the album Samba of Faith.
The show is part of a series of events taking place this weekend in Lagoa, which has among its main attractions the River Treea 60-meter-high structure that once again illuminated Rio’s postcard after five years.
A solidarity action set up two collection points for donations of non-perishable food, water, layette for newborn children and toys.
The proceeds will be directed to the Friends of the Redeemer program, which makes donations to social projects supported by the Consórcio Cristo Sustentável, formed by the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer, the Obra Social Leste Um – O Sol and the Instituto Redemptor, which serves the population in vulnerable situations.
One of the donation collection points is at the Lagoon space (Avenida Borges de Medeiros, 1424, Lagoa), where the show takes place. The other is in the São José da Lagoa Parish (Avenida Borges de Medeiros, 2735, Lagoa).
On Sunday (28), there will also be attractions from 5pm, such as Orquestra Harmonicos, Choro Batucada, Yasmin Lisboa and JP Silva.
