President Donald Trump will receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tomorrow, Sunday, at his private residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. There they must discuss the new plan that Ukraine and the United States are developing to stop the war.
Trump warned this Friday that the 20-point plan negotiated with Zelensky to end the war between Russia and Ukraine must have his approval to move forward. “(Zelensky) has nothing until I approve it. So we’ll see what he has,” said the American leader in an exclusive conversation with the portal Political.
They hope for a positive meeting
The Republican expressed his confidence that the meeting will be productive. “I think he will do well,” said Trump, who also noted that the result could be positive for Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he hopes to speak “soon.”
On Thursday, Zelensky held a telephone conversation with White House emissaries Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with whom he discussed some “new ideas” on how to achieve peace in Ukraine, at the level of formats, meetings and the roadmap for the talks, as he underlines. EFE.
Plan Points: 20
The 20-point peace plan, which Zelensky says is 90% ready and which Moscow has rejected, includes a non-aggression pact with Russia and NATO-like U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine.
Regarding the territorial situation, kyiv proposes two options: freeze the current front line or establish a demilitarized zone in parts of the Donetsk region that Ukraine still controls and that Russia claims.
The management of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, under Russian control, also remains in dispute.
Meanwhile, Russia attacks again
Amid the expectation generated by the announcement of the new meeting between Trump and Zelensky, considered key in the current negotiations, Russia launched harsh attacks against kyiv and against regions in the northeast and south of Ukraine.
The offensive caused at least one death and 19 injuries in kyiv, while fires and explosions were reported in other regions.
The Russian attacks, which also targeted electrical infrastructure, were carried out with drones and missiles, including Kinschal-type ultrasonic missiles, according to Ukrainian media.
In kyiv, according to the city administration, there are 2,600 apartment buildings without heat after the attacks, with temperatures around zero degrees, the Spanish agency points out.
