Santo Domingo.– A court in Santo Domingo Oeste sentenced 20 years of prison to Carlos Daniel Tamarezfound guilty of aggravated robbery to the detriment of a merchant in the Hato Nuevo sector, in an event that occurred on November 23, 2024.
The sentence, which must be carried out at the Las Parras Correction and Rehabilitation Center, was based on the evidence presented by the Public Ministry, under the direction of prosecutor Argenis Gutiérrez.
According to the investigation, Tamarez showed up at the business simulating interest in buying 200 pesos of pork rinds. Once the clients left, he threatened the victim, Severino Taveras, and stripped him of RD$170,000 that was in a black case.
During the assault, the accused shot Taveras, causing two bullet wounds in his stomach, according to the legal medical certificate issued by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
The Fourth Collegiate Court, chaired by Judge Julio de los Santos Morla and made up of Judges Clara Yoselin Rivera and Leonarda Quezada, accepted all the evidence presented by the litigating prosecutors Francheska Alcántara and Sugely Valdez, ratifying the guilt of the accused.
