Silvia Bazán Verdemother of four children originally from the district of ponto in the province of Huariremains in critical condition with an embedded construction iron that crosses his neck and rib cage, dangerously reaching the area near the heart. The Ministry of Health finally ordered his transfer to Archbishop Loayza Hospital in Lima after family complaints about lack of medical care.
The radiographic plates show that the iron enters the side of the patient’s neck and completely crosses her rib cage, thus finding itself a few millimeters from the heart. This injury requires a highly complex surgical intervention and according to the family complaint, the Victor Ramos Guardia Hospital of Huaraz is not able to perform.
Bazán was admitted to the hospital on December 24, but according to the report of his relatives, he would not have received the emergency care that his critical condition demanded.
“Every minute that passes is a mortal risk. Here they tell us that they cannot operate on her, but they do not speed up her transfer either,” they expressed through tears, according to local media.
Given the lack of immediate response from the hospital, the relatives went to the Public Ministry to file a complaint for alleged negligence and failure to provide assistance. However, they indicated that they were unable to locate a prosecutor on duty who could urgently intervene in the case.
The delay in care and the paralyzed administrative procedures led the family to make the situation public, generating pressure on the health authorities. Only after the complaints did the Minsa issue a statement announcing the transfer of the patient to the capital hospital.
Patient will be transferred to Lima
