The temperature measured this Friday (26) at the base of Mirante de Santana, in the north of São Paulo, registered a new record for the month of December. At 36.2°C, at 3pm, the highest temperature in the month since measurements began in 1961 was recorded. 
The heat wave is expected to last until December 29th, with storms expected this weekend.
The historic high arrives in the midst of a heat wave, with an atmospheric blocking phenomenon that keeps rain away from the region.
The state government confirmed today that the metropolitan region has around 26% water in its reservoirs, with 515.80 hm3, a volume lower by around 30% than in 2013, the year that preceded a historic drought in the region.
