The Dutch striker Memphis Depay This Friday he released ‘Work a lot’, his new musical creation in which he challenges his detractors after winning the Brazilian Cup with the Corinthians.
Five days after winning his first major title with the São Paulo team, the former FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid player has published a new song on his social networks to vindicate his work and dedication and, in the process, discredit his critics.
To the rhythm of pure rap, the attacker demands “respect” because he and his teammates “work all day” and insinuates that those who speak badly of him do not understand the effort behind his economic and sporting success.
“I’m at my best,” he says in one of the verses.
“If you don’t know what we’re working on, I’m accumulating all that money because we work a lot,” he reveals in another.
In another part of the lyrics, Memphis assures that he takes his work seriously and that he is oblivious to criticism and outside noise.
“I pray that the blind continue to listen, I pray that the deaf continue to hear me. All this work could kill me,” he expresses in another section of his song.
The 31-year-old striker has completed his first season with Corinthians with two titles: the Paulista Championship and the Brazilian Cup.

Last Sunday, he scored the winning goal in the final of the Brazilian Cup against Vasco da Gama (1-2), at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
However, his performance has not been without criticism. The press and fans have sometimes criticized his passive attitude on the pitch.
His high salary has also generated controversy at a time when the club is facing serious financial difficulties.
Likewise, the former Manchester United player also harshly attacked the Corinthians board after winning the Brazilian Cup.
He asked the club’s leadership to “wake up” and fire the managers who only want to “screw” the team.
“This club needs to grow, this club needs to fight for the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão every year because the fans deserve it,” he told local media.
