Six agents from the Department of Investigation of Crimes against Assaults and Robbery of the Dirincri of the National Police of Peru, along with a civilian, face 18 months of preventive detention for the alleged crime of passive bribery.
“Those investigated are PNP lieutenant Luis Juárez, PNP non-commissioned officers Ricardo Hernani, Larry Tarazona, Brandon Marchenna, Luis López and Cristhian Huayanay, as well as the co-accused María Gabriel. All were preliminarily detained during an investigation conducted by the provincial deputy prosecutor Agustín Chuquipul Vidal.“, reads the Facebook post of the Public Ministry – Prosecutor’s Office of the Nation of Peru.
This measure was adopted after the presentation of indicative elements by the tax authorities, which point to the possible participation of those investigated in the request for S/30 thousand in exchange for not arresting people caught in flagrante delicto.
The proceedings concluded with the preliminary arrest of those involved and a search of properties, as well as Dirincri itself, under the supervision of the provincial deputy prosecutor Agustín Chuquipul Vidal.
“According to the investigation, the police officers have received the sum of 15 thousand new soles in this case, through a procedure that was carried out on March 21. The judge has granted us a detention measure with search“, they detail.
The procedure at the Dirincri headquarters lasted almost seven hours, during which time the prosecutor’s team collected evidence and coordinated the arrest of those investigated. At the end of the operation, the Dinoes vehicles accompanied the prosecutor in the case.
