The data of the National Occupation and Employment Survey (ENOE) published this Wednesday reflect that of the total number of positions that were lost in November, 48.9% were in subordinate jobs, 30.3% among independent workers, 12.2% among unpaid employees and 8.6% among employers.
The report also shows that some key conditions of subordinate work improved in Mexico this year, despite the fact that in this occupation classification there are 179,591 fewer people than at the end of 2024. Between January and November the proportion of those who have access to health institutions, benefits and a written contract has grown.
Regarding the workers with access to health institutions As part of their employment, so far in 2025 this line has increased by 111,611 people, while the number of those who do not have this benefit has decreased by 263,231 cases.
When considering the people in paid employment who have benefits In general, ENOE data highlights that between January and November, 846,460 workers were added to this condition. Meanwhile, the number of employees without this element decreased by one million 69,817 people.
On the subject of written employment contractthe group of employees who have this protection in their employment increased by 250,504 people, while the total number of those who do not have it decreased by 367,253.
Domestic employment down
From the information published by Inegi, there is also an important monthly change in the registry of people dedicated to paid domestic work.
At the end of November, these activities included 2 million 181,631 peoplewhich represents a decrease of 356,933 people compared to the October report. Of this occupation group, 91.2% are women – and they cover almost all of the monthly sick leave – and 8.8% are men.
Of the universe of people dedicated to paid domestic work in November, only 2.7% have access to social security. According to the IMSS report, 59,614 people are registered in the affiliation program for this sector, a marginal decrease of 1% compared to the previous month.
