Santo Domingo.-The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) this Wednesday reported that it detained 177 Haitian migrants in irregular immigration status during interdiction operations carried out on December 22 and 23 in different sectors of the municipality of Constanza, La Vega province.
Of the total number of interdicted migrants, 135 are male. During the actions, the authorities also seized seven motorcycles, 17 knives and 83 mobile phones, in accordance with established protocols.
The operations were carried out by DGM teams, with the support of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD). For these tasks, two teams from Santo Domingo and four units from the 6th were integrated. ERD “GGL” Hunter Battalion, accompanied by G2/S2 intelligence personnel, who moved from the ERD Homeland Fortress “Brigade General Carlos A. Castillo Pimentel” to the intervened areas.

Migration indicated that during the detention and purification processes, dignified and respectful treatment was guaranteed to the interdicted migrants, in strict accordance with human rights.
Subsequently, the migrants were transferred to the Haina Migration Control Center, where the corresponding procedures are continued in accordance with the General Migration Law.
The DGM reiterated that these actions are part of orderly and planned operations that are carried out in coordination with the military and police forces, with the aim of strengthening immigration control and preserving order and security in the national territory.
