The Venezuelan Government, headed by President Nicolás Maduro, expressed its gratitude to the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran for its statement in defense of the country’s sovereignty and legitimate rights against the United States measures.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil highlighted the firm condemnation of Iranian deputies against the interception of Venezuelan oil tankers in the Caribbean, describing these actions as “maritime piracy” and a violation of international law. He stressed that such measures directly affect the national economy and challenge fundamental principles of freedom of navigation.
“The interception or obstruction of commercial vessels on the high seas without authorization from the competent international organizations constitutes maritime piracy, which violates international maritime law and the principle of freedom of navigation,” said the members of the Iranian Parliament in the statement read by the member of the board of directors of the Assembly, Moytaba Bajshipur.
Finally, Gil assured that Venezuela values this international support, which strengthens its denunciation against practices that seek to destabilize the nation and subject the Venezuelan people to an unjust siege.
