ONPE presents design of the voting card for the 2026 Elections

Less than four months from Elections 2026the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) presented the design of the voting card for the election of the president of the Republicvice presidents, senators and deputies, as well as Peruvian representatives before the Andean Parliament.

He ID size will double the number employed in the 2021 elections. According to the institution, next year the minimum size of the voting card will be 42 cm wide by 44 cm. long. The figure far exceeds the ballot from the last elections, which had 25 cm. wide and 21 cm. long.

For the purposes of better organization, the card is divided proportionally into five columns, according to each election, president and vice presidents, senators at the national level, senators at the regional level, deputies at the regional level and the Andean Parliament.

The three-section card – which contemplates the elections of president and vice presidents, senators at the national level and the Andean Parliament – will have the minimum measurements of 24.00 centimeters wide by 21.00 centimeters long and can extend up to a maximum of 44.00 cm long.

In the section for the election of the president and vice presidents, the name of the political organization will appear, along with its symbol and the photograph of the candidate for the Presidency. In the spaces corresponding to the elections of national senator, regional deputy and representatives to the Andean Parliament, the name of each organization, the emblem of the party or electoral alliance and two boxes for preferential voting will be shown. Meanwhile, the section for the election of senator by region will include the name of the political group, its symbol and a single box for preferential voting. In addition, at the top of each column the name of the election and the instructions addressed to voters will be recorded.

On the back of the card, the header will bear the name of the electoral process and spaces will be made available for the signatures of the three polling station members – president, secretary and third member – as well as an additional space for the optional signature of the representatives.

Design of the ballot for an eventual second round

The ONPE also presented the design of the ID card for the second presidential election. This will have dimensions of 21cm. wide by 15 cm. long and will include the name of the political organization, the symbol of the party or alliance and the image of the candidate for the Presidency. On the back the name of the electoral process will be recorded, in addition to the spaces for the signatures of the polling station members and the representatives.

In case there is any observation of the ballots, the institution highlighted that duly accredited representatives are authorized to make challenges or observations to the design of the voting cards before the National Elections Jury (JNE). Those observations that are accepted will be incorporated into the final version of the design, whose publication is scheduled for January of next year.

On February 12, the location of political organizations will be drawn

On the other hand, the green light was given to the guidelines that will govern the draw to define the location of the political organizations in the voter registration form for the General Elections and an eventual Second Presidential Election.

Said draw will take place on February 12, 2026 at the ONPE headquarters and will be carried out by the Electoral Management Management and the Electoral Information and Education Management.

Likewise, the resolution specifies that all political organizations with current registration that have presented their formulas and lists of candidates before the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) will participate in the draw.
