46 families affected by the 2023 avalanche in Rosas, Cauca, were relocated to rural properties as definitive resettlement.
A total of 46 families affected for an event mass removal occurred in 2023 in the municipality of Roses, Caucawere relocated to new rural properties as part of a process of definitive resettlement. The delivery of the plots was carried out within the framework of the actions carried out by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD)after an emergency that left numerous homes with housing and productive damage.
The parcels delivered are located in six rural properties in the municipality of Sotaráwhere families will be able to resume their productive activities and advance in the reconstruction of their homes. Relocation seeks to restore conditions for rural life, allowing households to continue their livelihood in the countryside after having been displaced by risk in their place of origin.

The resettlement process includes not only the delivery of land, but also the housing construction and the technical support to beneficiary households. These actions are aimed at strengthening the economic stability of resettled families and facilitating their adaptation to the new assigned properties.
Acquisition of land
In parallel, they advance eight contractual processes for the acquisition of 18 additional properties in the municipalities of El Tambo, Sotará and Timbío. These efforts seek to expand the availability of land to complete the relocation of families affected by the 2023 emergency.
Procurement processes include technical and legal analysisverification of the conditions of the properties and accompaniment to the owners participating in the sale. The objective is to guarantee that the land meets the necessary requirements for rural resettlement and that the procedures are carried out in accordance with current regulations.
Currently, these processes are in the final phase of granting public deedswhich will allow domain transfers to be formalized. Once this stage is completed, the parceling of the properties and the resettlement of approximately 160 families who are part of the universe of those affected.

Situation of the affected families
The mass removal event recorded in Rosas in 2023 affected more than 200 familiesmany of whom lost their homes and livelihoods. Since then, actions have been taken to offer permanent solutions that allow households to return to a stable life in safe rural areas.
While some of the families advance in their resettlement process, others continue in application phase to access new lands. These applications are part of the mechanisms established to expand the coverage of the program and serve all the victims.
The measures implemented seek to ensure a substantive solution for rural resettlementprioritizing the most vulnerable population and guaranteeing their permanence in the territory in adequate conditions.
