Jorge Rodríguez: the new phase of dialogue is inclusion

Jorge Rodríguez: the new phase of dialogue is inclusion

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, explained this Tuesday the conditions of the “reformatting of the dialogue” requested by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

During a meeting of the Dialogue Commission for Peace and National Reconciliation, he highlighted three fundamental points related to the need raised by President Nicolás Maduro to “reformat” the political dialogue in Venezuela.

I explain that this “reformatting” consists of carrying out an inclusive dialogue “where we can all be represented, including cultural media, fishermen, youth, economic sectors, workers, business, the so-called civil society, academic circles, students, among others. All sectors have the right to join the dialogue, to take the floor in that dialogue process,” Rodríguez said from the seat of parliament.

As a second point he said: “in political dialogue it is clear that there is a map, which as in all historical circumstances is changing.”

He commented that the political photo of 2006 is not the same as that of Venezuela in 2019 or that of the country after the 2021 mega-elections were held “where absolutely all the country’s political forces participated in the process,” he emphasized, referring both to the forces that make up the Great Patriotic Pole as well as the different factions of the opposition in Venezuela.

“In this way, it is necessary to attend to the post-election political picture to understand that the conditions of the dialogue are no longer the same,” he said, for which the incorporation of all political sectors in the dialogue was proposed.

He recalled that some opposition factors have called for invasions, others for violence and have accepted the tutelage of foreign powers and other sectors of the opposition have insisted on their nationalist character and have respected the Constitution.

On the other hand, he explained that a qualitative factor was incorporated into this process of reformatting the dialogue: «When the dialogue was proposed in 2017 it was under an umbrella of political conflict. Now it is a dialogue of a country in peace. Here there are political guarantees for everyone », he said.

Rodríguez explained that the country went from an offensive with the country’s economic and political sectors to integrating all sectors.

During the press conference, he highlighted that they have received an instruction from President Nicolás Maduro to hold an intensive round of consultations and meetings with all the factors of the Venezuelan opposition, as well as economic and social factors.

“We are going to ask for a meeting with all the heads of the Venezuelan opposition political parties and Dr. Gerardo Blyde,” he said.

“We want to know the true perspectives of the Venezuelan people. There is a country beyond things. We are going on a work offensive with important meetings so that the dialogue can be reformatted », he added.

Finally, the president of the parliament explained that the collected needs will be worked on and when the conclusions of the contributions and needs of the people are reached, the new dialogue process will take place.
