The authorities of the Buenaventura Special District alarms were raised due to the increase in people injured by the use of gunpowder during the holiday season.

As explained by the epidemiologist from the Buenaventura Health Secretariat, Dayan Diuzathe cases have been presented since first of december.
“Unfortunately we have seven patients affected by the use of gunpowder. We started on December 1st in The Dolphinrural area of Buenaventura, during the Dawn“said the official.
Likewise, he indicated that new incidents were subsequently recorded. “Then there were five cases of gunpowder injuries, including a minor. A few days ago, number seven was presented, it is another child. Currently we have two children that should not be in our indicators, since minors should not handle gunpowder,” he added.

The epidemiologist clarified that the control of the sale and distribution of these elements does not fall solely on the health sector. “From the Ministry of Health we are not the ones who control the distribution or sale of gunpowder; this is a work articulated with the Police, Childhood and Adolescence and the ICBFwhere we all contribute to surveillance,” he explained.
Finally, he called for the responsibility of adults. “The recommendation is that parents and caregivers remove children from burning gunpowder. Minors cannot manipulate it in any way, since they do not have the caution or responsibility of an adult,” he concluded.
