The process of registering candidatures towards the General Elections 2026 It starts with setbacks.
The Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Lima Centro 1 declared the request presented by Country Advances to register your presidential and vice-presidential formula, upon detecting key omissions in the documentation.
Through Resolution No. 08736-2025-JEE-LIC1/JNE, issued on December 22, the Special Electoral Jury of Lima Center 1 noted observations in the request submitted by the party’s legal representative, Aldo Fabrizio Borrero Rojas.
Consequently, a period of two calendar days was granted to correct the errors detected.
The main observation focuses on the formation of the presidential team. According to the official record of the ONPE corresponding to the primary elections, the original formula of Country Advances was headed by Phillip Butters as a presidential candidate and Karol Paredes as second vice president.
However, the application submitted to the JNE proposes a new formula with Jose Williams Zapata to the presidency and Adriana Tudela as second vice president, under the figure of accessory after the alleged resignation of the incumbents.
The JEE specified that, although an internal record from December 16 explaining the changes was attached, the formal resignation documents of Butters or Paredes that legally support the modification were not presented.
Added to this is an additional observation in the presidential candidate’s own documentation. The JEE detected that the sworn declaration of consent and veracity (Annex 11) of José Williams presents a formal error, by not stating the position for which he is applying, failing to comply with the requirements established by the electoral regulations.
With these observations, Avanza País must correct the errors within the given period if it seeks to continue in the electoral race. If not, the presidential ticket would be left out of the registration process for the 2026 General Elections.
