Acting Attorney General Tomas Galvez He publicly apologized to his colleagues Pablo Sánchez and Zoraida Ávalos, whom he acknowledged having referred to “in a bad way (…) driven by circumstances and his own passions.”
It was within the framework of the institutional Christmas ceremony where, when speaking before prosecutors and workers, Gálvez explicitly referred to his “disagreements” with the supreme prosecutors Zoraida Ávalos and Pablo Sánchez.
“I have even referred to them in a bad way. Obviously, I have asked God’s apologies and forgiveness for them, because sometimes, driven by circumstances and our own passions, we act thoughtlessly. Perhaps I said, ‘that Dr. Pablo, that Dr. Zoraida, here, there, because I never thought about returning to the Public Ministry…” he commented.
And, indeed, Gálvez reinstated himself as the titular supreme prosecutor last June under the protection of a ruling from the Constitutional Court that declared void the disciplinary procedure that was followed against him and that culminated in his dismissal in 2021.
In September, he was elected by the Board of Supreme Prosecutors as interim national prosecutor to replace Delia Espinoza, who was suspended by the National Board of Justice and subsequently disqualified by the Congress of the Republic from holding public office for 10 years.

Now, as reported Peru21 Last Sunday, Gálvez paved the way for his eventual election as prosecutor of the titular nation. In this process, which would take place between January and February, he would need to guarantee the support of both Ávalos and Sánchez as those who have had public confrontations.
This would be the real reason why Gálvez, in the Christmas ceremony that took place last Monday the 22nd, made mea culpa with both supreme prosecutors to whom, he said, he has already offered apologies “and forgiveness to God.”
“Once I was sitting next to them, I was like, ‘Why did I say this, and now?’ But fortunately, Dr. Zoraida from the first moment expressed her will, above the circumstances, above the pettiness, and told me directly: ‘Tomás, the past is behind us, we look to the future in peace. “I thank God for that,” he commented.
Along these lines, the supreme prosecutor extended his apologies to workers in general. “Not all of us can agree and that can create some disagreements, but I ask that you understand that the purpose is one and we are working for the Public Ministry. (…) Therefore, if we have had a bad moment in the institution, in our relationship, I, in the name of God, ask for forgiveness from all of you, because I have surely made many mistakes and I have also surely done many intentional things that could have harmed someone,” he added.
“We have been witnessing a state of confrontation that I believe we must put an end to,” he said.
