“It is surprising how in this country the rate of teenage pregnancy has been increasing. I have seen 16-year-old girls who are 8 months pregnant (…) I have spoken with teachers and they mention that the best result is pregnancy, because here we all know that STDs exist. I have discovered 14-year-old children with sexual infections,” he said.

“How is it possible that this continues to happen? Many young people have poorly protected, if not zero, relationships and this has caused these STDs to spread throughout the country. That is why I decide to raise this issue. It is unfair to live with this reality,” he added.
During the activity, the head of state sought to appear close by stating his “satisfaction” for speaking directly with young people, although the emphasis on listening to their opinions contrasts with a context marked by questioned decisions and few concrete changes.
Along these lines, he maintained that it is important to review and rethink decisions when reality demands it, a statement that, for many, highlights the lack of self-criticism and timely rectifications in the face of problems that have already been noticed for a long time.
“The problems do not end today, in the future there will be other problems (…) I hope that some of you are governors, if it is the field of arts, culture or music I will still feel proud. I have cataloged all your expectations, that is why this space is important, your maturity is very high. How much I would like this capacity of maturity to be able to listen to it constantly. Our country would be different,” he said.
