Santo Domingo. – He Emergency Operations Center (EOC) launched this Tuesday the first phase of the operation “Awareness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2025”which will start today at 2:00 in the afternoon and seeks prevent fatal incidents.
And at this time of year the flow of people moving from one place to another usually increases to spend the holidays with the family, which increases the risk of accidents.
The general Juan Manuel Mendezdirector of the COE and the Directorate of Out-of-hospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH)indicated that this first phase will culminate next Thursday, December 25 at 6:00 in the afternoon.
“Like every year, the operation has the purpose of preventing incidents and respond to emergencies that citizens who travel to the interior of the country to spend Christmas with their families may have,” said Méndez.
He explained that this time, 48,470 collaborators from first response organizations participateas well as volunteers, who will now be at the 1,301 aid stations set up for the operation.
In addition, there are some 250 ambulancesin the 44 vehicular transportation teams and 14 vehicular rescue units, but also in 21 mobile workshops and two pre-hospital care centers that have been prepared for the holiday.
Call for citizen awareness
He said that by order of the president Luis Abinader Efforts are being made to prevent incidents, while appealing to citizen conscience.
“We need the help of every Dominican. citizen awareness will play the most important role in this operation, that is why I insist that the population drive prudently so that everyone reaches their destination and passes a Quiet Christmas and safe without bringing anguish and mourning to families, becoming fatal figures,” he said.
Reinforcement of Digesett agents on the tracks
While Pascual Cruzdirector of the General Directorate of Traffic and Transportation Security (Digesett), recalled that life is the supreme value that must be protected.
“During these holidays mobility is significantly increased on our road, as well as the risk factors associated with traffic,” he noted.
Cruz stressed that they have 2,286 agents on the roads located at strategic points where more accidents regularly occur, in addition to 447 motorcycles140 vans, 34 cranes, 7 trucks, two tractors and one truck.

Among the actions that will be executed, is the reinforcement of the presence of agents, regularization of traffic on main roads, highways and highways throughout the country.
