The body of Mauro Oliveira França, aged 68, was found, missing in the flood that took his car during the storm in Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, recorded on Wednesday (17).
The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) located, on Monday afternoon (22), the body in the Piabanha River, in the Itaipava region, district of Petrópolis.
The corporation informs that it was engaged in the search for the man who was in a car dragged by the strong current. The vehicle was located, without occupants, by the military. Four operational units, divers, vessels and drones with thermal cameras were involved in the operation, which covered the 36 kilometers of the river, between Ponte de Nogueira and the Alberto Torres Dam.
Petrópolis City Hall and the Petropolitan Transport Company (CPTrans), where Mauro was a servant, mourned his death.
“A civil servant since 1995, Mauro dedicated around 30 years to CPTrans, working in different sectors with commitment, ethics and sensitivity, being especially recognized for his service to the public”, says the note.
