The United States Southern Command reported on Monday a new attack against a vessel in the eastern Pacific, allegedly linked to drug trafficking, and confirmed the murder of another person.

“On December 22, under the orders of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic attack against a low-profile vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations in international waters,” he said.

In addition, he specified that intelligence confirmed that the vessel was traveling along “known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and participated in drug trafficking operations” and added that “the death of a narcoterrorist was confirmed during this action,” without presenting evidence of such an accusation.
The Southern Command did not detail the exact location of the attack or the alleged criminal organization involved.
This new aggression adds to the more than 30 attacks carried out against vessels in the Caribbean and the Pacific, leaving more than 100 people murdered. Human rights organizations and United Nations experts They have rejected these actions, considering them to violate international law.
Since last August, Washington has maintained a military deployment in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, attacking ships whom he accuses of alleged links to criminal organizations without proving it.
Venezuelan authorities denounced that this represents a threat to both the country and the region, stating that the true objective is to appropriate the nation’s resources.
This has been demonstrated with the recent thefts of two oil tankers by the US, which Venezuela has described as acts of piracy. Likewise, the governments of countries such as Russia, China, Cuba, Iran, among others.
On the eve, the American president, Donald Trump, assured that they would keep the Venezuelan oil obtained through acts of theft and aggression in Caribbean waters, and indicated that they could sell it or incorporate it into their strategic reserves.
